A minimum of one complete paragraph with proper spelling, grammar, and punctuation is required. This seminar will benefit my career by keeping me informed. These seminars are informing me about the various companies that are open to hiring students like me. I also learned a lot from Derek and Josh about Holden Construction. Being a reliable construction company creates a great relationship between the company and the client. This relationship is important for Holder. They have repeat clients and have had to turn down work due to there being so many clients that want to hire them. To grow this company is welcomed. An example that was given was if you get tired of being a VDC engineer you can easily switch to a new company within Holder. Holder offers various positions and welcomes growth. Holder is big on collaboration with not only with the teams within their company but with other trades and companies. They also collaborate with the employee when it comes to furthering your education. They contract out for trades, and this is another way they collaborate with the companies with them. 01/18/2024 Benson 287 Seminar Presentation: Jared Turner Company: Construction Solutions Company Being successful in your career was the main topic of discussion for this seminar. Developing and managing relationships is critical in being successful. Creating trust and relying on companies and tasks to get accomplished in a timely manner are essential. When trust is high, decisions get made quickly. Trust is built through effective communication. Being dependable and being a high performer allows for the “people in charge” to trust you. Take the jobs that give you good experiences. At the beginning, take every opportunity to grow and learn; it is not all about the money. You must start in the dirt and concrete to be able to build a strong foundation to create a successful career. Working your way up starts with a strong foundation. Put in the time for your employer to be able to find out what they expect from you. Being a reliable employee is greater than “being right.” Find out what the employer values in their buildings and discover what they expect from the project you are assigned to. This can meet the needs of the owner and will help build relationships with the owners. Tackle problems and accomplish tasks effectively. Making excuses labels you as “insufficient.” We are paid to get problems solved, not make excuses. The sooner you find the problems and solve them, the easier and better the task is accomplished. Problems are like cancer; if you let them go, they will grow, and then there will be severe consequences. 12/7/2023 0 Comments Lundahl Building Systems11/30/2023 Benson 287 Seminar Presentation: Billy Clark (‘safety guy’) & Travis Johnson & Madi (intern) Company: Lundahl Building Other Information: -started 1993 -location: logan, Utah -general contractor Other Information:

Most of the opportunities the owners how Corax would handle schedules. They have yet to bid a job where they weren’t recommended. The name Corax is from Norse mythology. The name for Ravens is Corax. Scheduling is evaluating the past performance to improve future performance. The niche they found is instead of just scheduling they do data analytics to avoid litigation. 2- The importance of scheduling and planning. Why is it important? One example of the importance of scheduling is when getting to the point of drywalling a commercial project, so many other tradesmen must come in and do their trades to BEFORE the drywalling can even be put in. Managing that schedule of tradesmen is one of the critical aspects of a project. Time is money. The different tradesmen and different subtractors need to know when to come in. 3- Liquidated damages. In some legal contracts, liquidated damages are given as an estimate of one party's otherwise intangible or difficult-to-define losses. It's a clause that lets you pay a certain amount if one of the parties breaks the terms of the agreement. 10/5/2023 0 Comments Hensel Phelps
